Adeline Newmann is a Los Angeles based animator, video designer, and VJ. Her work has shown across the United States, and also internationally in Germany and Estonia.
She creates animated video content for music performance and specializes in ambient animation, visual music, and AudioVisual performance. She also works as a video designer, programmer, and video technician in theatre, opera, and dance.
Her aesthetic is minimalist and textural. She draws inspiration from Modernist composers and visual artists, as well as ’80s independent comics, Industrial music, and Beat Generation literature.
She grew up studying music and playing flute and piccolo in a rock band. She attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory High School in San Francisco, and was section leader in the symphonic orchestra and in the musical theatre pit orchestra. Her music background strongly informs her approach to video design.
She graduated in 2012 from the California Institute of the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Experimental Animation.
